Irish Pub

We walked a few miles up hill and found ourselves in the midst of college town.
Good atmosphere with tons of things to do such as shuffle board, darts, and pool. The bartenders alone are worth it ;)

5 Point

This place was about a minute walk from the suites we stayed at in downtown Seattle. It's worth mentioning because we saw ourselves returning every morning to get breakfast coupled with some devilish bloody marrys'. If you are ever in Washington, do yourself a favor and nurse your hang-over at this joint. You will not be disappointed.

Native Google Search on s60

Once again I am impressed with Google's initiative towards simiplifying mobile surfing. Just recently Google released a quick download for your symbian enabled phone to search the net in less than 2 clicks. To summerize, it's basically google desktop on your s60. It's just as quick to bring up the query search (if not faster) on your stand by screen compared to your PC desktop (ctrl x2). By hitting the "pencil" key on my n73 a google search box appears directly on my standby screen for me to enter whatever query (T9 enabled) I desire. Usually I had to load my nokia browser and then point to google mobile and continue my search from there ... but this nifty app cuts down the time by almost 1/2. Searches can be directly made from my main screen and since I am an avid google user, this application gets an A+ in my book.

If you own a s60 enabled device I highly enourage you to check this app out.

Recent happenings ...

It's been a while since I blogged. I'm actually sitting here at work trying to figure out whats the next best gadget I can splurge on for my birthday. Choices are abundant, but I have to narrow it down to what best suit my needs. Since I am a die hard nokia fan, the N810 was the first device I looked at. I even thought of investing in a PSP or DSlite, but I don't play enough games on the go to need one. My focus is mostly on mobile productivity & connectivity. I am thinking of developing (or learn to atleast) some mobile applications and I'll need a device that I can work on ... "on the go." I want/need a portable device that almost has the power of a laptop, but not quite the price tag that a decent laptop comes with. If I plan on spending money on a laptop ($2k+) it will definitely be a "desktop replacement" and it will completely replace my current home PC.

When I am at work, I need something I can connect to the Internet using my 3g connection and n73. The safe filter here at work blocks out a lot of regular sites I visit, and it's annoying not be able to catch up on my reading. After careful research I have decided to give the ASUS EEE PC a try. Luckily, I have a friend who works for ASUS and he gets quite a good deal on one. Now, this is little gadget has gotten quite the reviews ... many customers out there are fully satisfied with this product. And since the EEE PC comes with a modified version of Linux it will give me a chance to mess around with a different OS. I've been putting off installing Free BSD on my 2nd PC for quite some time now. This beau seems to be the next best thing for me productivity wise. Good bye to paper/pen note-taking during lectures. The size is amazing and perfectly fits my mobile needs. You can check out some pictures of the EEE PC on Flickr. Whats even better is the price tag it comes with. ~$400 !! Can't wait to get my hands on one soon!

On the WoW front: I transfered servers... BG9 is extemely overated and the competition on there is something I cannot keep up with. When some of the best arena teams in the world come from BG9, you can imagine competition in this battlegroup. My crew and I moved to US-PVP server Detheroc which is on BG5- Shadowburn. Upon arriving to my new server ... my buddy Gabe (Serephim 48/11/0) and I broke 1850+ in 2v2 bracket. Our track record is 37 wins and 6 losses. I also switched from my muti playstyle to shadowstep (3/15/43). This new playstyle is definitely fun...a lot more mobility!!! I do miss the eyecandy mutilates :( BUT not enough. I feel it's a fair trade for the mobility issues I was facing when fighting druid/xxx teams or just generally any class that kited me around :( The plan is to hit 2k rating in the 3s with Eric.. Dankh + Fazee + Serephim = RMP = RAWR. Whisper Dankh or Pawan (Hunter alt =D)and say hi if you play on Detheroc. I'd love to make some new friends since I left many back on Blackrock :(

AIM on Gmail

I'll have to say ... I'm quite impressed! Google finally released the ability to sign on to your AIM screename directly through gmail. This was a pretty talked about feature and it just went live!

I was reading my morning email when I noticed the new feature link in bright red! I was able to sign on to aim through gmail without a hitch. The chat windows are clean and the animated smilies are refreshing. I had been waiting for this feature for quite a while now ... I prefer not to sign on to AIM using the native app. It's hideous!

One thing I am disappointed about is that this feature doesn't integrate itself into gtalk as well. I'm sure it's only a matter of time, but until then I am quite satisfied with keeping my gmail window open or using the pop out feature.

Google music trends

I enabled sharing of my music trends. It's a pretty neat feature especially if you have gtalk running all the time. I use my PC to listen to music most of the time when I'm home. Sometimes I can't be bothered to figure out what I want to listen to. With a few clicks I can see what other users have been playing.

It's a nice history for the type of music you listen to without any hassle of maintaining a list. I'm all for lifeblogging so any kind of trends that I can effortlessly keep track of, I'll utilize.

Google Toys! IMAP and Page Creator

I played with two new google applications today! It's amazing how google simplifies things! With absolutely no web design skills, one can make a personal webpage in a matter of seconds. (The seconds have been verified: 7 seconds) It is simply that easy using Google Page Creator. I am planning on using this hosted site for my personal resume! Google even provides a domain name with your user name. username.googlepages.com ! It's pretty nifty! Give it a try!

Google also announced IMAP4 access for your personal gmail account. Millions of gmail users are rejoicing world wide since this announcement was made. IMAP enables you to sync your gmail with multiple devices. I am at work right now and I cannot enable IMAP access from here, but I have the mailbox set up on my n73. Once I get home I'll be able to sync it and test it out! Users everywhere have confirmed that the free service provided by gmail works without a hitch.

Google Maps - My Location.

I just downloaded the new google maps for my n73. And for not having GPS, the location that Google Maps pinpointed me at, was pretty damn accurate. I love this new feature by google, and it gives mobile users who don't have a GPS enabled phone a chance to see the beauty of never being lost. However, the disclaimer does make sure that you DON'T use this service while driving. Please don't :P

Now another cool feature would be seeing other mobile users who are using GMAPS and have little shout out boxes for quick chat.

If you have a smartphone and no GPS, I'd recommend taking a peek at this nifty lil app. The symbian version runs like a charm and without glitches so far...

AIM on GTALK?

This is the greatest news I have heard since IM was introduced to the internet. As much I advocate the use of GTALK over AIM, I can't help but feel giddy about this (only if its true). I love google talk, but I keep having to sign on to aim (poexone) because 90% of my friends are on it. I am always on gtalk however, but only sign on to aim when neccessary.

If this merge goes through I will be ecstatic. There is nothing better than using a clean and effcient UI of GTALK as opposed to AIM's HORRIBLE buddy list. I personally use trillian, but that will be quickly replaced with gtalk+aim if this ever gets released.

Nokia Lifeblog

I am impressed with some of the features in lifeblog. I fell upon a pretty good blog ... while searching for a solution to the memory problem with my n75.

I am going to give it a chance and fiddle around with it more. Organizing media will be much easier with lifeblog. There is a great tip about freeing up memory using a lifeblog feature that I think everyone should be aware of.

I just discovered google reader.

With my current obsession with RSS, I couldn't have fallen upon a better tool provided by google themselves. Google Reader is an excellent app that lets you organize and manage your RSS feeds. If you want an easy and efficient way of managing your favorite feeds, make sure to check google reader out. Yet another great tool by google. Bravo.

Added jaiku and rss apps on facebook

I may be behind in the blogging world, but I have this new obsession with rss. It makes collecting information so much easier.

I also like facebook's new idea of web OS.

With the feeds set up on facebook, lets see if this posts appear as expected.

RSS feeds...

I have decided against showing RSS feeds directly on to blogger. All my feeds will be organized through jaiku so I can also access it from my phone. If you haven't already checked out jaiku then I highly recommend it especially if you have a symbian friendly phone.
